Global Alliance against Female Genital Mutilation

The Global Alliance against FGM (GA-FGM) was created in 2010 as a French non-governmental organization and has a presence in Geneva, Switzerland.

The GA-FGM understands FGM as a violation of Human Rights and a fundamental obstacle to gender equality.

The organization's goal is to contribute to the acceleration of the FGM abandoning process worldwide, using a scientific transdisciplinary approach to develop performing strategies and convincing arguments to end FGM, evaluation tools for projects in the field, education and training modules for professionals and grass root actors, and to broaden the knowledge about FGM and its impact on individuals and the society.

In its awareness raising compaigns the GA-FGM uses music, culture and arts in order to get the attention of the bigger public. Charity concerts, art exhibitions and multi-cultural events are occasions to inform and discuss about FGM.
