Gender Studies Centre, Šiauliai University
The Gender Studies and Research Centre (GSRC) of Siauliai University runs national, regional and European knowledge sharing network. Today the GSRC functions as base for interdisciplinary academic research on sex and gender. The centre also plays an important role in forming gender policy in Lithuania. The foundational goal of the GSRC is to integrate gender studies into the common curriculum at Siauliai University. The research on gender during past ten years has produced a numberof studies. The main research topics: strategies for overcoming of gender stereotypes in education system (HE), pilot research ofwork-life reconciliation at university and in rural areas in EQUALprojects by social modelling of integrating of women into labour market, women’s career, women’s participation in S&T decision-making, gender mainstreaming strategies, instruments and equality indicators in academy, interdisciplinary of study courses, gender-sensitive indicators in the HE management, measurement of Structural Funds impact on gender equality. The Centre provides expertise and monitoring on gender equality for governmental bodies, carries out indicators on gender equality indicators and mechanisms in the group of specialists of the Directorate General of Human Rights - DGII at Council of Europe and working groups and Expert Forum at European Institute for Gender Equality.
