AGEMI is an innovative equality project, partly funded by the EU, which has both curated and created a set of knowledge resources to support the promotion of gender equality across the media, not just across Europe but globally.
It has brought together 100+ examples of good practices which have been initiated by media organisations, unions, civil society organisations and women-focused NGOs which promote gender equality, from women’s leadership programmes to media monitoring methodologies to gender equality plans, which provide a range of models for other organisations to adapt to the requirements of their own organisations.
It has also developed a series of thematic learning units on topics such as representation, advocacy, policy, violence and language which comprise mini-lectures, interviews with media and gender experts and activities to consolidate learning.
- The project is being presented as an example of good practice at the upcoming Council of Europe’s World Forum for Democracy (6-8 November, Strasbourg) which is themed around the threats to democracy in an information age.
- All AGEMI’s resources are free to access, stream and download and the moving image resources are also available on AGEMI’s YouTube channel. Do check out the AGEMI website and learn something new, interesting and useful.
