Event

The European Institute for Gender Equality will the launch the study on estimating the numbers of girls at risk of female genital mutilation in Cyprus, Belgium, Greece, France, Italy and Malta. The event will take place on 25 June 2018 in Nicosia and is organised in cooperation with the Office of the Commissioner for Gender Equality of Cyprus.

We will present our latest research that estimates the number of girls at risk of female genital mutilation in Cyprus and the other selected EU Member States. We will explain the factors that motivate and discourage the practice from happening in the European Union and we will provide recommendations to strengthen policies and incentives to better protect girls at risk.

The presentation of the results will be accompanied by a roundtable discussion on the situation and the challenges of female genital mutilation in Cyprus, followed by a networking lunch.

The event will be interpreted simultaneously in English and Greek.

Agenda and presentation from the event are available under the Resources tab.

Report of the study and the Greek country profile are also available under the Resources tab.

Photos from the event will be available under the Photos tab.
